Guava Brisa
Guava, pineapple, lime, and agave over ice — tropical without tipping into sweet.
Guava nectar on its own is thick and one-note. It needs acid and it needs a second fruit, and pineapple supplies both, bringing its own sharpness along with a brighter aroma.
The half ounce of lime and half ounce of agave are what keep this from becoming a fruit cup. Stir the base until the agave has actually dissolved, then build over ice and top with sparkling mineral water.
The Recipe
Makes 1 · 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 oz guava nectar
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz agave syrup
- Ice cubes
- 1 (12 fl oz) bottle Tehuacan Brillante sparkling mineral water
- 1 fresh pineapple slice
Method
- Add the guava nectar, pineapple juice, lime juice, and agave syrup to a cocktail shaker.
- Stir well until the agave syrup dissolves completely into the juices.
- Fill a plain, smooth highball glass to the top with ice cubes.
- Pour the juice mixture over the ice.
- Top gently with Tehuacan Brillante sparkling mineral water.
- Stir lightly to combine the flavors.
- Garnish the rim with a fresh pineapple slice.
Notes
Stir the base in the shaker before it goes anywhere near ice. Agave syrup is dense and will not dissolve in a cold, carbonated glass.
Fresh pineapple juice makes a noticeably better drink than canned, which tastes cooked and slightly metallic against the guava.
Pink guava nectar gives you the color people expect. White guava tastes cleaner but the drink comes out looking beige.
